1 – There are plenty of places to have a look for to buy an Iguana

Iguanas can be found in a mixture of places. Your own local pet shop can hold them. Another place to search for Iguanas is countrywide pet stores like Petco. Nowadays , you may even buy an iguana online at sites like reptilesncritters.com and will have it sent to you by fed ex (Yikes). Sorry Canadians this company only sell in the US. You can even search for Iguanas at local reptile rescue agencies. To start try the Green Society’s list of reptile adoption agencies at greenigsociety.org

2 – Avoid feeding Pet Iguana’s with insects.

There's a myth it's good to add protein to the Iguana’s food diet and to give them insects occasionally. While Iguanas may infrequently eat insects in natural settings, it is important to consider is that Iguanas are plant eaters and eat a diet made up of greens, vegetables a few berries and a bit of fruit. You can add to the mix some flower buds. Even though Iguanas can eat lettuce, giving an Iguana a diet based entirely on lettuce is unhealthy. So back to the Insects, when you bring home your favourite Iguana, don’t start feeding it with all the creepy insects you catch on your yard porch.

3 – Iguanas are pretty long creatures

Iguanas will not stay like that little pet you see in your local pet shop. Full size Iguanas size and can reach between 4 – 6 feet long. Females are a bit smaller. So when you are planning on purchasing an Iguana, you need to get ready for a big enclosure.

4 – Iguanas can live for a considerable time

If an Iguana is looked after well it can live for roughly 20 years. That is much more than a moggy or a dog. The main proviso here is if they're taken care of. Alot of Iguanas are not given a well balanced diet that suits them and they develop all kinds of sicknesses.
